The Colosseum is an oval amphitheatre built in 70-80 AD in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of travertine, tuff, and brick-faced concrete, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built.

From the top of the Vittorio Emanuele you can see a large part of the city including the Colosseum and its massive size.

t was used to host gladiatorial shows as well as a variety of other events, including animal hunts, and battles. The massive structure is astonishing, however it’s gruesome past leaves spectators unsettled.

The massive marble mask weighs about 13kg and is most likely depicting the face of the sea god Oceanus with its eyes, nostrils, and mouth open. Historians aren’t quite certain what the original purpose of the disc was, but it is speculated that it…

The ceiling inside the Crypt is full of bones and skulls of Capuchin Friars.

If unaware of the history behind the Capuchin Crypt and what lies inside, it is easy to walk past without a second glance. The building may seem ordinary from the outside but it is anything but.

Team Tuscany just checking to see if we're liars. The myth is the disc will bite off the hand of liars, but will do nothing to an truthful person.

Michaelangelo Mersisi de Caravaggio's painting, Saint Francis in Prayer is located in the museum in the building with the Capuchin Crypt.
